Francisco Villota y Baquiola (born November 18, 1873 in Madrid ; † January 7, 1950 there ) was a Spanish pelota player .
biography
Francisco Villota was a Cantabrian and came from Santander . He took part in the only pelota competition in Olympic history. With a victory against the two French Etchegaray and Maurice Durquetty at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 , he and his partner José de Amézola became Olympic champion.
In addition to the pelota game, he was also President of the Euskal Jai Club in Madrid. From 1908 to 1910 he was involved in the organization of pelota tournaments in the Spanish capital. He has been described as a strong and muscular man.
