José de Amézola y Aspizúa (born January 9, 1874 in Izarra , † 1922 in Cercedilla ) was a Spanish pelota player .
biography
José de Amézola came from a Basque family from Etxebarria . He took part in the only pelota competition in Olympic history. With a victory against the two French Etchegaray and Maurice Durquetty at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris , he and his partner Francisco Villota became Olympic champion.
De Amézola worked at a bank in Bilbao . Later he was sectarian of the Commission of the Province of Bizkaia .
