Franciszek Gut-Szczerba was a Polish Nordic skier who also took part in alpine skiing competitions at the national level .

Career

1932 Gut-Szczerba was Polish junior champion in cross-country skiing over 8.5 km and with the relay. He won his only national medal in the senior category in 1939 when he came third at the Polish Ski Jumping Championships in Zakopane .

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1939 in Zakopane, Gut-Szczerba took 18th place in the special jumping event . In the combined competition he was thirtieth, while he reached 93rd place in cross-country skiing over 18 kilometers. A few weeks later he was third behind Stanisław Marusarz and Jan Kula in the "open jumping competition for the challenge cup of the President of the FIS" .
