Thomy mustard (spelling of the manufacturer: THOMY Senf ) is a mustard product from the Thomy brand , which has been part of Nestlé since 1971 . It was the first mustard sold in an aluminum tube .

From 1907 the Swiss mustard factory Helvetia of the families Thomi and Meister produced table mustard under the name Langenthaler mustard , which was still sold openly from large earthenware pots. After another merger, Hans Thomi founded Franck + Thomi SA in Basel in 1930 and invented the new brand name Thomy’s for his mustard in the aluminum tube. The replacement of the "i" by a "y" and the use of the Saxon genitive made the brand more suitable and visually attractive for international use.

The great success of the product was its shelf life of several months. After a competition and a survey in 1931, the "Senf-Thomy" was chosen as the advertising figure, which later took the form of a tube.

The original Thomy mustard was mild and is still produced today in almost unchanged composition. Like other Thomy products, it has been manufactured in Germany for the German market since 1954. He has a close relationship with the Swiss Cervelat sausage and the so-called Wienerli . In the meantime, other types of mustard have been added. In 2008 around 1500 tons of Thomy mustard were sold.
