Franco Scoglio

Franco Scoglio (born May 2, 1941 in Lipari , † October 3, 2005 in Genoa ) was an Italian football coach .

Scoglio began his career in 1972 as a youth coach. He came to the Italian second division club CFC Genoa in 1988 through various positions at lower-class clubs . He led this to Serie A in 1990 . Between 1990 and 1998 he worked for a total of eight first and second division clubs , including FC Bologna , Udinese Calcio and Torino Calcio . But nowhere did he end a whole season.

In autumn 1998 he became technical director of the Tunisian national team . At the African Cup of Nations 2000 , he led them to fourth place. In February 2000 Scoglio returned to CFC Genoa until the end of the 1999/2000 season. He then took over the post of coach of the Libyan national soccer team .

Scoglio died on October 3, 2005 during a television show on the private broadcaster Primocanale , to which he was invited as a guest. During the broadcast he had complained of being unwell. Despite immediate first aid measures, Scoglio died in the private television studio.
