The name franjos was chosen because of the first letters of the first name Fran z- Jos ef. This is the first name of the publisher (Franz-Josef Herbst) and the author (Franz-Josef Schulte) of the first published game.

history

The publishing house was founded in 1987 by Franz-Josef Herbst as a small publishing house, the name refers to his first name. The first game came out in 1987 and was called Aladdin's Legacy . Since then, one or two new games have been produced every year. Above all, board games for adults and families with children are published. In addition to classic multi-person board games, the publisher also has a range of two-person games in its range. Most games have a manageable playing time of a maximum of one hour.

The most successful games are Billabong , Black Box , Mahé , Kippit and Can't Stop .

Prices

The games Billabong (1994) and Buzzle (1995) were included in the selection list of the best games of the respective year by the Game of the Year jury .

The Ludo label (a Belgian game award ) went to KIPP X (2014) and Mahé (2015). Mahé also won the U-more Award in Japan in 2015, Game of the Year in the category "Best Game for Beginners and Families".
