Frank-Steffen Elster

Frank-Steffen Elster (* 1976 in Leipzig ) is a German choir director .

Life

He sang in the Gewandhaus children's and youth choir under the Gewandhaus choir director Ekkehard Schreiber and took on musical assistance as well as provisional rehearsals for the Gewandhaus choirs at an early age. From 1997 to 2002 he studied choir and ensemble conducting at the Leipzig University of Music in the subjects of choral conducting, conducting and singing. As assistant to the Gewandhaus choir director Morten Schuldt-Jensen , he took over the direction of the children's choir in 1999. In 1997 he founded the ensemble avelarte , which he directed until 2007. In 2007 he was appointed choir director of the Stadtsingechore zu Halle , in 2011 he also took over the artistic direction ofRobert-Franz-Singakademie Halle . In collaboration with the director Philipp J. Neumann , he composed music for feature films and theater productions. In 2012 he was seen in the documentary soap Advent in XXL .

In March 2014 he gave up the leadership of the Stadtsingechore zu Halle for personal reasons and in April 2014 also ended his work as artistic director of the Robert-Franz-Singakademie Halle . Elster is a lecturer in choral conducting at the Leipzig University of Music and Theater .
