Frank Bremmer

Frank Bremmer (* 1964 in Bad Wildungen ) is a German neurobiologist and university professor.

Life

The native of Bremen, who grew up in Bad Wildungen, studied physics and a minor in physiology at the Philipps University of Marburg . He received his doctorate in biology at the Ruhr University Bochum in 1994 with the thesis Direction-dependent modulation of neural responses in visual cortical areas of the macaque . As a result, he held a post-doctoral position at the Collège de France in Paris for two years and then an assistant position at the Chair of General Zoology and Neurobiology in Bochum. After completing his habilitation in neurobiology in Bochum in 2000, he was appointed professor for applied physics and neurophysics at the University of Marburg in 2001 , which he accepted.

Since 1994, Bremmer spokesman of the interdisciplinary DFG - Research Training Neuronal representation and action control - NeuroAct . He was also involved in university self-administration, where he had been director of the Graduate Center for Life and Natural Sciences since 2009 and, at the same time, Vice Dean of the Physics Department at Philipps University.
