Frank Dikötter
Frank Dikötter (* 1961 ) is a Dutch historian and sinologist . He is a professor at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the University of Hong Kong .
Life
Dikötter studied history and Russian at the University of Geneva . He then spent two years in the People's Republic of China. In 1990 he received his doctorate in history from SOAS. He then continued his research there and became a professor in 2002.
Dikötter is married and currently lives in Hong Kong.

Dikötter has written many books on modern China, such as Mao's Great Famine , which won the Samuel Johnson Prize in 2011 .
