Frank Dunster

Bernard Francis "Frank" Dunster (born March 24, 1921 in Ottawa , Ontario , † April 8, 1995 ibid) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Frank Dunster began his career as a hockey player with the Ottawa St. Pats from the Ontario Junior Hockey League, with whom he reached the playoffs for the Memorial Cup in the 1938/39 season. The 1941/42 season he spent in parallel with the Ottawa Canadiens from the Ottawa Senior Hockey League and the Rivervale Skeeters from the Eastern Amateur Hockey League. He was a flying officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as a navigator . After the war ended, he first played for the Ottawa District Depot team from the Ottawa National Defense Hockey League, before completing a year with the Ottawa Senators from the Upper Ottawa Valley Hockey League. He then played for the Edinburgh Burghs from the Ottawa Senior League. In 1948 he took part in the Olympic Winter Games as a member of the RCAF Flyers and stayed with the team for two more years after the tournament. He later worked for an Ottawa moving company. At times he also worked for the Ottawa Fire Department.

International

For Canada , Dunster took part in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , where he and his team won the gold medal.
