Frank Grünwald

Frank Grünwald (born September 6, 1957 in Göttingen ) is a German nuclear medicine specialist . He is a professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and director of the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Frankfurt am Main .

Life

Grünwald passed his Abitur at the Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium Bonn in 1976 , and then completed his community service. From 1978 to 1984 he studied human medicine in Bonn. After the medical state examination in 1984, he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. From 1984 to 1986 he was a research assistant at the Physiological Institute I at the University of Bonn and then moved to the Clinic and Polyclinic for Nuclear Medicine at the University of Bonn. He was recognized as a doctor for nuclear medicine in 1990. In 1992 Grünwald completed his habilitation and became senior physician in 1992 and senior physician in 1994 at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Bonn . In 1997 he was appointed adjunct professor. Grünwald has headed the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital in Frankfurt since 1999.

Grünwald is married and has five children.

Act

Grünwald is a member of many scientific committees and associations and has received several awards for his scientific work. He has authored numerous books and book chapters and is co-editor of the German standard textbook in the field of nuclear medicine. The scientific focal points include the use of nuclear medicine procedures for tumor diseases, positron emission tomography (PET), the examination and treatment of thyroid diseases, especially thyroid cancer, and radioiodine treatment .
