Frank Greiner (born July 3, 1966 in Coburg ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

For sixteen years, Frank Greiner played professional football almost exclusively in the 1st Bundesliga . He only played one season in the 2nd Bundesliga with 1. FC Kaiserslautern , but rose again immediately. Frank Greiner was almost always a regular in his respective club. Until 1988 he played for 1. FC Nürnberg . From there he moved to 1. FC Köln . There he made his breakthrough to become a regular player and top performer. The headbutt he suffered from Altin Rraklli in February 1994 will not be forgotten . After seven years there, he said goodbye in 1995 to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Pfalz region. In 1997 he moved to VfL Wolfsburg , where he ended his active career in 2003.

From 2006 to 2008 he was an assistant coach at the Lower Saxony division MTV Gifhorn , where he has since made his comeback as a player due to a personnel emergency.

In January 2013, his former teammate from Wolfsburg times, Dorinel Munteanu , brought him as an assistant coach to the Russian first division club Mordowija Saransk . He has been with the VfL Wolfsburg football school since February 2014 .
