DFB Cup 1990/91
DFB Cup winner 1991 was Werder Bremen . In the final at the Olympiastadion Berlin on June 22, 1991, Bremen won 4-3 on penalties against 1. FC Cologne . After regular playing time and extra time it was 1: 1. As in the previous finals in 1989 and 1990, coach Otto Rehhagel's team went into thefinal as the alleged favorite in the third final in a row, but was finally able to win in the third attempt. The cup victory in 1991 formed the prerequisite for winning the European Cup Winners' Cup by Werder Bremen in the following season.
Defending champion 1. FC Kaiserslautern had already been eliminated in the 2nd round against the later finalists 1. FC Köln , but won the championship . The FC Bayern was already in the first round sensational against the Oberliga FV 09 Weinheim excreted. The last time there were replays this season, even after extra time there was no winner.
