Andreas Gielchen (born October 27, 1964 in Eschweiler ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In 1983 he reached the final of the German A youth championship with the juniors of 1. FC Cologne , which however was lost with 0-2 goals against Eintracht Frankfurt . The defender never made it into the regular formation of 1. FC Köln in the long term, although his performances were always solid. He could not prevail against the then regular defenders Paul Steiner , Gerd Strack and Matthias Hönerbach . Nevertheless, he was part of one of 1. FC Köln's greatest successes: in 1986 in the UEFA Cup final against Real Madrid . However, it was lost with 1: 5 and 2: 0. During his time he worked with trainers such as Johannes Löhr , Georg Keßler , Christoph Daum and Erich Rutemöller .

Gielchen lives in the Hamich district of Langerweh .
