Hamich is an Eifel village and has been part of Langerwehe in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Düren since 1972 .

Geographical location

Hamich lies in the northern Eifel region on the northern edge of the natural park Hautes Fagnes-Eifel . The Wehebach flows to the east and the Omerbach to the west . The place is located on a county road between Gressenich and Heistern at about 221  m above sea level. NHN . In the immediate vicinity are the Hamicher Höfchen, the Krichelsmühle and the Wenau forestry department .

history

From 1794 to 1815 Hamich belonged to the Mairie Heistern in the canton of Eschweiler in the Département de la Roer . In 1800 Hamich, Heistern and Schevenhütte had a total of 1,120 inhabitants. From 1815 on, Hamich and Heistern belonged independently to the Düren district and from 1932 together with Wenau to the Langerwehe office. On January 1, 1972, Wenau was incorporated into the Langerwehe community. From 1961 to 1971 the place could be reached by post under " 5181 Hamich (via Eschweiler) " and from 1972 to 1993 under "5163 Langerwehe". Since 1993 the location has been "52379 Langerwehe".

The next motorway junction is "Langerwehe" on the A4 . The next train station on the high-speed line Cologne – Aachen is “Langerwehe” (5.5 km). Two AVV bus lines connect Hamich with Gressenich (2 km), Schevenhütte (3.5 km), Heistern (2 km), Langerwehe (5.5 km), Nothberg (6 km), Bergrath (8 km) and Eschweiler- Mitte (7 km).
