The place Jüngersdorf belongs to the municipality Langerwehe in the district of Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). Jüngersdorf lies at the foot of the Hürtgen Forest on the northern edge of the Eifel . Jüngersdorf was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into Langerwehe on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in North Rhine-Westphalia through the application of the Aachen law . The place consists of the original center around the small chapel and a number of settlements that gradually developed into the place that is now connected to the center of Langerwehe. On the slopes above Jüngersdorf, the Laufenburg towers up, which today houses an agricultural company and a restaurant .

history

Jüngersdorf was probably built in the 7th century, at that time it was a forester's yard of the Franconian imperial estate and later Jülich Wildbanns . In 898 it was apparently named Gunthersdorf after a hereditary forester. The oldest known Jüngersdorfer knight dynasty were the von Lövenichs (1563). While more and more houses were built around the manor, the name changed to today's Jüngersdorf .

Catholic Community Center

At the former location of the Marienkapelle in Jüngersdorf , next to a chapel, a community center with group room, youth room, hall and kitchen as well as the necessary ancillary rooms was built. This was created as a replacement for the church building in Pier, which was abandoned due to mining. The compensation payments were made exclusively by RWE Power AG .
