history

Former pastorate

D'horn is a typical Franconian village complex, as it used to be built next to the cleared areas in large forests. The name of the place is traced back to the Old High German thorn for "forest".

From a manor chapel of the Palanderhof a church was built in the 15th century, which was finally a three-aisled complex. During the Second World War , the church was completely destroyed and not rebuilt. In 1954 a memorial altar was built in the foundation walls, which is now a listed building. The former pastorate of the church has been preserved.

In 1799, 14 Catholic families and the pastor lived in D'horn. In total there were 35 people over 12 years and 11 people under 12 years.

Reorganization

From around 1800 to December 31, 1971, D'horn as well as Konzendorf, Obergeich, Schlich, Merode, Echtz and Geich belonged to the Amt Echtz as a so-called "rule". From 1816 the office belonged to Prussia. The town hall of the Echtz office was temporarily located in D'horn.

On July 1, 1969, the municipalities of Merode and Schlich-D'horn were merged to form the new municipality of D'horn.

On January 1, 1972, the Echtz office was dissolved. The community of Echtz-Konzendorf came to Düren. The communities D'horn and Geich-Obergeich were incorporated into Langerwehe (see Aachen law ).
