Peter Münstermann (born August 3, 1956 in Langerwehe ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia until May 31, 2017 .

Life

Münstermann is married, has two daughters and lives in Langerwehe - D'horn . From 1963 to 1971 Münstermann attended the St. Martinus elementary school in Schlich . In 1988 he graduated from evening school as a mechanical engineer. Before doing basic military service with a tank artillery unit, he was trained as a draftsman in a mechanical engineering company in Düren . After working for a roller manufacturer for around ten years, he switched to RWE at the Weisweiler power plant . After further intermediate positions at RWE, he has been the exempt works council chairman there since 2002. Since 1971 Münstermann member of trade unions, now Ver.di .

politics

Peter Münstermann joined the SPD, local association Langerwehe, in March 2007. He is a council member in his home parish and has chaired the SPD parish council since 2015. He is still represented as a knowledgeable citizen in the Düren district council and a member of the SPD parliamentary committee. Münstermann is the deputy chairman of the SPD in the Düren district and chairman of the working group for employee issues (AfA).

Münstermann was elected in the state election on May 13, 2012 as a direct candidate in the constituency of Düren I in the 16th state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In his constituency he received 39.9% of the first votes. Münstermann is a member of the 28-person committee for business, energy, industry, medium-sized businesses and the skilled trades. He was a member of the Europe and One World Committee. In the Mining Safety Subcommittee, he was appointed spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. He was also a deputy member of the Labor and Social Committee. For the state elections in May 2017, Münstermann decided not to run again and thus withdrew from state politics.

In 2014 he was nominated as a district administrator candidate for the Social Democrats in the Düren district and thus prevailed against his party competitor Olaf Müller . On September 13, 2015, Münstermann lost in the district elections to District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn (CDU), who has been in office since 1999, with a vote of 43.66% to 56.34%.

For the 2020 local elections , Münstermann is running as the SPD's mayoral candidate for Langerwehe.
