Olaf Müller (born September 30, 1959 in Düren ) is a German administrative clerk and part-time crime writer.

Professional background

After graduating from school and training as a bookseller , Müller studied modern German literary history , comparative literature and philology at RWTH Aachen University from 1981 to 1989 . He then worked first in his learned profession and as a journalist . From 1991 to 1995 Olaf Müller was a research assistant for Hans Alt-Küpers ( SPD ), member of the state parliament .

In the fall of 1995, Müller began to work in the Aachen city ​​administration. Initially responsible for cultural cooperation in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine at the municipal cultural office , he moved to the office for economic development in 1996. Since then he has played a leading role in the organization and supporting program of the annual Charlemagne Prize and is the editor of numerous publications on this topic. On March 1, 2007, Olaf Müller was appointed head of the newly created cultural department of the city of Aachen.

In 2014, Müller applied in vain in the run-up to the 2015 local elections for the SPD's nomination as a candidate for district administration in the Düren district .

In 2018, Müller's first crime novel Rurschatten was published . In the meantime four novels with the inspectors Fett and Schmelzer have been published by Gmeiner-Verlag . These are crime novels with regional and contemporary historical references.
