Jorge Enrique Jiménez Carvajal CIM (born March 29, 1942 in Bucaramanga ) is Archbishop of Cartagena .

Life

Jorge Enrique Jiménez Carvajal joined the religious community of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary , made profession on May 17, 1964 and was ordained a priest on June 17, 1967 . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Zipaquirá on November 9, 1992 .

The Archbishop of Bogotá , Mario Cardinal Revollo Bravo , donated him episcopal ordination on December 12th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Paolo Romeo , Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , and Juan Francisco Sarasti Jaramillo , Bishop of Barrancabermeja .

On February 6, 2004, he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Cartagena . After Carlos José Ruiseco Vieira's resignation , he succeeded him on October 24, 2005 as Archbishop of Cartagena.
