Frank Jahnke (born July 27, 1957 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2001 . He is the economic and cultural policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the House of Representatives.

education and profession

Jahnke graduated from the Gabriele-von-Bülow-Gymnasium in Berlin in 1976 and studied mathematics and physics in Berlin and Düsseldorf. He then studied economics at the Free University of Berlin. At the Institute for Economic Policy of Prof. Hajo Riese , Frank Jahnke worked on topics of monetary theory and international finance. As part of his diploma thesis, he dealt with the genesis of the central banking system based on the development of the Bank of England in the 19th century through to drafts of supranational monetary systems prior to the introduction of the EURO. Jahnke has been active in adult education since 1985, from 1988 to 1991 as an employee of the All-German Institute. He also worked as a consultant for political education at various institutions.

Jahnke joined the SPD in Düsseldorf in 1979. In particular, the policy of the then SPD chairman Willy Brandt on Germany and peace policy motivated him to join the party. After returning to his hometown of Berlin, Frank Jahnke became active in the Charlottenburg SPD, where he held a wide variety of functions at department and district level before he was directly elected for the constituency of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf 4 in the 2001 parliamentary elections. Jahnke is a member of the district executive committee of the SPD Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, state party congress delegate and deputy chairman of the specialist economic committee at the SPD state association. Since the direct re-election in 2006, Jahnke has been the economic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. He also led the discussion group “Modern Production in Berlin” at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, where actors from companies, associations, trade unions as well as from science and politics discuss concepts for the reindustrialization of Berlin.

In the House of Representatives elections on September 18, 2011 and 2016, Frank Jahnke was again able to win the direct mandate for the constituency of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf 4 . In the 16th electoral period (2011 to 2016) he was also chairman of the culture committee in the House of Representatives. In the 17th legislative period he is again the economic policy spokesman (since 2006) and since 2016 also the cultural policy spokesman. Jahnke is also a member of the Committee for European and Federal Affairs, Media . He is chairman of the parliamentary group working group for economy, energy and companies and thus also a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee.

Personal

Diverse cultural interests led Jahnke u. a. to deal with artist colonies and in 1998 to publish the book "Die Künstlerklause in Schwalenberg - On the history of the Schwalenberger painter's colony". Frank Jahnke has been married since 1986 and has three children.
