Frank "Butsey 'Morelli (birth and death are unknown) was an American mobster of Cosa Nostra and the founder of Providence Crime Family , which in 1932 with the Boston Crime Family united and as New Britain Crime Family and later as Patriarca family known has been.

Life

Frank Morelli was an immigrant who first settled in Brooklyn, New York and later moved with his family to Providence, Rhode Island.

In 1917 Morelli founded the Providence Crime Family and entered the bookmaking and gambling business. Until the time of Prohibition , he operated in Providence, Maine and Connecticut .

He and his brothers reportedly carried out a series of extremely daring raids. Some also suspected that they were the brains behind the robbers Sacco and Vanzetti .

In 1932 the more powerful Filippo Buccola , head of the Boston faction, united his family with the Providence faction, creating the New England Crime Family. Morelli became Buccola's underboss and retired in 1947.

The date of his death is unknown.
