Frank Mußmann

Frank Georg Gustav Mußmann (born September 12, 1943 in Żytkiejmy (Wehrkirchen), East Prussia ) is a German administrative lawyer. He was president of the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main .

Live and act

Mußmann grew up in Frankfurt am Main , where his family fled after the war. After graduating from high school in 1963, he studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main until 1969. After legal clerkship and the second state examination, he worked in the legal department of Frankfurt University from 1974 to 1979 and helped, among other things, to redesign the departments. He then went to the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology in Bonn and in 1980 moved to the University of Design in Offenbach am Main as Chancellor. In 1988 Hilmar Hoffmann , the Frankfurt cultural department head, appointed him head of the Office for Science and Art of the City of Frankfurt. Here he acquired knowledge of "budgetary and control techniques in administration - general budgeting and central resource responsibility". In the office, Mußmann was responsible for the administration and coordination of all museums and the awarding of all subsidies; he designed numerous events of his own.

With a large majority, Mußmann was elected president of the university in 2000 by the convention of the Offenbach University of Design as successor to Wolfgang Luy . During his term of office the construction of the west wing, the renovation of the main building and cooperation projects with partners fell. He held the office until his retirement in 2006, his successor as university president was Bernd Kracke . Since 1985 Mußmann has been honorary chairman of "Lebenshilfe Frankfurt", which advocates the needs of people with intellectual disabilities.
