Frank Schmitz

Frank Schmitz (* 1972 in Aachen ) is a German art historian and architectural historian .

Life

Schmitz studied art history, philosophy and German at RWTH Aachen University and the Free University of Berlin . There he received his doctorate in 2005 on country houses in Berlin 1933–1945 ; He then worked as a freelance writer and lecturer in art history at the Free University of Berlin and at Touro College Berlin . Since 2007 he has been running the “Bureau for Building History” in Berlin. In 2013/14 Schmitz represented the professorship for New and Modern Art History at the Ruhr University Bochum . From 2014 to 2016 he was a junior professor for architectural history at the University of Hamburg, and since then he has been working on a research project at the Free University of Berlin.
