Frank Schulz (art teacher)

Frank Schulz (born November 25, 1952 in Narsdorf ) is a German professor of art education .

academic career

Frank Schulz studied art education , history and art theory in Leipzig and Leningrad and in 1979 with the issue of problems of the artistic process doctorate . In 1986 he completed his habilitation on problems of artistic talent. Frank Schulz has held a professorship for art education at the University of Leipzig since 1993 and is director of the institute for art education at this university. In 2009 he was a visiting professor at the University of Bern , Master of Advanced Studies in didactics of art and design.

Further activities and honors

In 1990 he was a founding member of the Association of German Art Teachers in the GDR and a member of the first board of directors. Since 1991 he has been involved in setting up the BIP creativity facilities in Saxony and Thuringia (since 2008 management consultant). Since 2012 he has been chairman of the board of the Mehlhorn Foundation. In 2013 he became a founding member of the umbrella organization for creativity education. V. and member of the first board. In 2007 he was honored with the Theodor Litt Prize from the University of Leipzig.

Publications

  • Schulz has been co-editor of the magazine Kunst + Studium and author of Ernst Klett Verlag since 1991 .
  • Since 2005, together with Johannes Kirschenmann (Academy of Fine Arts Munich) and Maria Peters (University of Bremen), he has published the series "Context Art Education" in the Kopaed publishing house in Munich.
