Frank Sesno

Frank Sesno was an American journalist for the US news channel CNN and is now Professor of Media and Public Affairs and International Affairs and Director of the GWU School of Media and Public Affairs .

Sesno received his bachelor's degree from Middlebury College in Vermont . He first worked as a radio correspondent in the White House and in London for the Associated Press . He joined CNN in 1984 and was the station's news correspondent for over 21 years. Today he is considered a "CNN veteran". Today he teaches at George Washington University .

His theses on media use were taken into account in connection with the increasing number of fake images and video in the global media landscape. In connection with the propaganda of the Islamic State, he said in 2015 that it was now a problem that anyone from any cave could now broadcast a beheading around the world. He emphasizes the role of the media as "gatekeeper" and advocates good editorial work.

He still works today as a commentator for the CNN Newsroom program, for example. He started the program "Planet Forward", a cross-media web-to-television show on PBS . He is the executive of Face the Facts USA.

His journalistic work has received several awards: he won a. a. an Emmy Award.
