Frank Thomas Herbert Fletcher
Frank Thomas Herbert Fletcher (born January 6, 1898 in Birmingham ; † May 29, 1977 ) was a British Romanist .
life and work
Fletcher studied in Birmingham and received his doctorate in 1924 at the University of Nancy under Charles Bruneau with the Étude sur la langue des Voeux du paon, roman en vers du XIVe siècle, de Jacques de Longuyon, suivie d'un Index alphabétique des principales formes dialectales (Paris 1924 ). He taught successively in Aberystwyth , as a lecturer in Birmingham, as an associate professor in Toronto (1927-1932), as a lecturer-in-charge of French in London (Goldsmith's College), and finally at the University of Liverpool , where he was from 1946 to 1965 Successor to Edmond Eggli Holder of the James Barrow Chair of French (successor: Claude Albert Mayer ).
