Frank Timo Beil

Frank Timo Beil (born April 3, 1975 in Heidelberg ) is a German surgeon and university professor for orthopedics and trauma surgery in Hamburg.

Career

Beil studied human medicine at the University of Hamburg from 1996 to 2002 . From 1999 to 2002 he received a doctoral scholarship from the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the graduate college "Molecular Biology of Osteolysis" and received his doctorate in 2002 with a basic scientific thesis on bone fracture healing.

In 2002 he began clinical training as an orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and the Rheumatism Clinic Bad Bramstedt . From 2007 to 2009 he worked as a postdoc in the DFG research group “Mechanisms of fracture healing and bone regeneration in osteoporosis”. In this context, he carried out research activities in the Neuroendocrine Research Unit at Monash University , Melbourne . In 2011 he completed his habilitation in orthopedics and trauma surgery .

After his specialist examination as an orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon in 2009, Frank Timo Beil initially worked as a specialist , then as senior physician and finally as senior consultant in the Clinic for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Rheumatology at the Bad Bramstedt Clinic. In addition to the specialist title “Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery”, he also has the additional titles of special orthopedic surgery, orthopedic rheumatology, emergency medicine and physical therapy and balneology, and he is also a certified foot surgeon (GFFC). In 2016, Frank Timo Beil moved to the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) as Head of Orthopedics in the Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery . In 2017, he was appointed adjunct professor . Before he was called to Hamburg, he had also been Deputy Director of the Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery and Head of the certified EndoProsthetic Center Max. At the University Medical Center Göttingen since 2018. In 2019 he was appointed to the W3 University Professorship for Orthopedics at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Since then he has been director of the chair for orthopedics at the UKE and, at the same time, director of the orthopedic clinics at the Bad Bramstedt Clinic.

Act

As part of his work in the graduate college and the research group of the German Research Foundation, Beil researched the regulatory mechanisms of bone metabolism. His clinical research focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of endoprosthesis infections and in 2017 he was accepted as a member of the AO Foundation's international Clinical Priority Program "Bone Infection" . Beil has published numerous national and international papers and is the organizer of national and international conferences. Most recently, he was Congress President of the International Symposium on Foot Surgery in Munich in 2019 . In the same year he was appointed to the advisory board of the German Society for Foot and Ankle Surgery.
