Frank Wennmann

Frank Wennmann (* 1959 ) is a former swimmer who was active in the 1970s and 1980s.

In 1978 and 1979 he was German champion over 400 meters freestyle , after having been narrowly defeated over this distance by Peter Nocke in 1977 , and in 1980 German champion over 200 meters freestyle. At the World Swimming Championships in Berlin in 1978 , he won the bronze medal with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay.

His swimming style was often referred to as "elegant". In addition to his international and national successes, he was successful with his club SG Gladbeck and won the German championship title in 1981 in Bonn with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay in record time in Germany together with Michael Kraus , Dirk Korthals and Volker Friedrich .
