The Frankfurt City Hall in Niederursel

The Frankfurt City Hall in Niederursel is a half-timbered house from the early 18th century . It was built as the town hall of the district of Niederursel under Frankfurt rule, since 1910 as Frankfurt-Niederursel, an incorporated, northwestern district of Frankfurt am Main .

history

In 1714 one was made real division of Niederursel between the Free City of Frankfurt and the county Solms-Rödelheim (common rule, see also → condominium ). As a result, the Solms City Hall and the Frankfurt City Hall were built. An amount of 60 guilders was available to finance the Frankfurt City Hall including the bakery . Accordingly, the building, completed in 1716, was rather simple. A two-story half-timbered house with a crippled hipped roof was built on a low crawl space . Due to moisture damage, the rear gable was later replaced by masonry.

The following saying is carved over the front door:

"Doing right has cheated,
I do right and have been lied to.
Fuxschwenzers are
more fond of stealing with gentlemen than other thieves
Just like Fux do the cock,
so the devil will
break the Fuxschwenzer 's neck last"

The house at Alt-Niederursel 28 is a listed building by the State of Hesse . The listed topography describes the house as follows: "Baroque building from 1716 with ornamental framework, lintel beams and inscription."
