The Frankland Range is a mountain range in the southwest of the Australian state of Tasmania , part of the Great Dividing Range . It extends along the west bank of Lake Pedder in a northwest-southeast direction in the northern part of the Southwest National Park .
The mountain range can be reached either by water across Lake Pedder or by land from Strathgordon or Scotts Peak Dam . Because of its poor accessibility, it is significantly less popular as a hiking area than other areas in the southwest of the island. Due to the size of the Frankland Range, its terrain and its remote location, hikers have to meet high demands.
The Davey River and some of its tributaries, such as the Albert River , Frankland River, and Lora River , originate in the Frankland Range.
