Franklin Elmore Kennamer

Franklin Elmore Kennamer (born January 12, 1879 in Kennamer Cove , Marshall County , Alabama , † May 1, 1960 ) was an American lawyer and politician .

After attending school, Franklin Kennamer joined the United States Army and served with the rank of colonel in the Spanish-American War of 1898. He then embarked on a legal career. In 1905 he was admitted to the bar. From 1915 to 1916 he served as a municipal attorney in Madill, in southern Oklahoma . Between 1919 and 1920 he served there as mayor before he was appointed as a judge at the Oklahoma Supreme Court . He remained on the Supreme Court of his state until 1924.

On January 28, 1924, Kennamer was nominated by US President Calvin Coolidge for a new seat in the federal district court for the eastern district of Oklahoma. After his approval by the United States Senate , he was able to begin his work there on February 19 of the same year. On February 16, 1925, he moved within his state to the federal district court for the northern district of Oklahoma. Kennamer stayed there until June 1, 1940; On this day he entered senior status , as it was no longer possible for him to exercise his judicial office for health reasons. He died on May 1, 1960.
