František Tichý
František Tichý (born March 24, 1896 in Prague ; † October 7, 1961 there ) was a Czech artist.
Life
Tichý studied at the Prague Art Academy and lived in France from 1929 to 1935, a period that shaped his artistic work. From 1945 to 1951 he was a professor at the Prague Academy.
The two areas of circus and vaudeville dominated his artistic work. That is why he was soon one of the leading figures in the Czech avant-garde .
His other works also included the logo for the Czech brewery Staropramen , as well as a stamp draft for the 50th anniversary of the Prague Fair in 1949. Two of his works were also published on Czech postage stamps and his portrait can also be found on several postage stamps .
The lithographer made a name for himself as a graphic artist and illustrator.
