Frantz Funck-Brentano
Frantz Funck-Brentano (born June 15, 1862 in Munsbach Castle , Luxembourg , † June 13, 1947 in Paris ) was a French writer, historian and playwright.
Funck-Brentano was the son of Théophile Funck-Brentano (1830-1906) and brother of Claudine Funck-Brentano, who was known as a translator and poet. In 1885 he became a curator at the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal . In his numerous works he mainly describes French history, such as the so-called collar affair or in his Légends et archives de la Bastille (1897) the history of the so-called iron mask . In 1928 Funck-Brentano was accepted into the Académie des sciences morales et politiques .
His mother was Clemens Brentano's niece . His son Christian Funck-Brentano (1894–1966) was a cabinet member in the government-in-exile of Charles de Gaulle and was one of the founding boards of the French newspaper Le Monde .
