F.-X.-Mayr cure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The F.-X.-Mayr-Kur (also: Franz-Xaver-Mayr-Kur ) is a method for health promotion and “ purification ”, which is named after its inventor Franz Xaver Mayr (1875-1965). The main goal is to "clean up" the intestine. The regimen is not a weight loss diet , although many take it to lose weight .

Mayr was a spa doctor in Styria as well as in Karlsbad and Vienna . Even as a student, he believed that most health disorders were related to the intestines . His therapy became known as the milk and bread cure , although he attached more importance to the type of diet than to the food itself. According to his knowledge, it is merely a means to the end of improving health. The temporary monotony of the diet is an important healing factor and, after some time, helps the organism to completely digest a natural diet. In addition, the dry bread roll has the function of training thorough chewing and stimulating the vital flow of saliva, which is the first stage of digestion .

The F.-X.-Mayr cure offered today is a further developed "milk and bread cure", among other things with a much wider range of food. Mayr's pupil Erich Rauch , who developed the “Mild Discharge Diet ” and founded the first inpatient health center for the F.-X.-Mayr cure, was well-known in the further development . It is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure for the treatment of chronic diseases and for health care. So far there is no scientific evidence of the claimed effects of the cure.

Mayr Medicine is officially represented by the International Society of Mayr Doctors based in Lans, Austria. There, doctors are trained and certified as qualified Mayr doctors.

Principles

The FX Mayr Therapy is a naturopathic spa treatment. Diagnostically, it should make it possible to recognize the preliminary stages of numerous diseases and to prevent various civilization ailments such as constipation and colon cancer . The focus is on "intestinal detoxification" and so-called purification , which should promote the body's self-healing powers. In addition, it should eliminate over- acidification of the body and act in the sense of a regeneration on the body tissue, its fluids and the blood . The method is recommended for many different ailments; The only contraindications are multiple sclerosis , tumors , thyrotoxicosis , eating disorders ( bulimia , anorexia ), ulcerative colitis , Crohn's disease and pregnancy.

The pillars of the Mayr method are the four S: protection, cleaning, training and substitution. An essential component is the medical abdominal treatment, a kind of abdominal massage. It is intended to support the purification process and, comparable to lymphatic drainage , to stimulate the lymph flow for detoxification.

Protection

According to the providers, the cure relieves and regenerates the digestion with a diet based on tea or therapeutic fasting . It can be carried out as a milk diet or as a drainage diet in special spa clinics or on an outpatient basis.

Purge

"Cleansing" is about "purifying" and "deacidifying" the digestive tract. It is usually done by taking Glauber's salt or other Epsom salt in the morning and can be supported by drinking cures ( herbal tea , tap or mineral water). In the case of stubborn constipation, an enema can be available at the beginning of the treatment.

training

The training should serve the careful training of organs and their "rehabilitation". A special effect is ascribed to practicing thorough chewing and training to avoid distractions while eating. At Mayr, people do not drink during , but before eating, which gives a feeling of sufficient satiety sooner. Manual abdominal treatment is important here. It should activate the peristalsis of the intestine and the function of the liver and pancreas , deepen breathing and stimulate the circulation of blood and lymph .

substitution

The substitution is intended to prevent malnutrition , which is relatively common in today's lifestyle and eating habits. Since the bread and milk diet is also a form of malnutrition, the supplementary administration of vitamins , trace elements and minerals is often indicated.

criticism

The F.-X.-Mayr cure, like any other diet, is a burden on the body, even for a healthy person. Under no circumstances should it be carried out without medical supervision. It is not suitable as a diet for weight loss because it corresponds to modified fasting. The health-promoting effect of colon cleansing is controversial. The assumed "acidification" of the body or a necessary " purification " is scientifically rejected.
