Franz Adamo

Franz Adamo (born March 14, 1896 in Büdesheim , † February 2, 1977 in Bingen ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Franz Adamo attended the Büdesheim elementary school and then from 1912 to 1913 the state wine and fruit growing school in Oppenheim. In 1914 he worked for the Reichsbahn before joining the war from 1915 to 1918. After the war he returned to the Reichsbahn and attended the Mainz Railway School from 1927 to 1928. Until 1933 he was also a lay judge at the regional court, juror at the jury court and assessor at the labor court. After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was arrested for political reasons and dismissed. In 1937 he became managing director of the market hall and the fruit and vegetable processing cooperative Bingen-Büdesheim. In 1944 he was arrested again as part of the Grid Action and held in prison in Mainz and in Buchenwald and Dachau concentration camps.

Adamo was a member of the SPD from 1919 and 1926 to 1933 SPD chairman in Bingen-Büdesheim. Since 1926 he was a member of the city council in Bingen. During the time of National Socialism he could no longer legally continue his political work. In 1945 he became an alderman in Bingen and in 1946 co-founder and chairman of the SPD in Bingen-Büdesheim. In 1946 he was re-elected to the Bingen city council and in 1948 to the Bingen district council.

From June 11, 1951 to May 31, 1955 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament (as a replacement for Justus Cronenbold ) .
