Franz Bachofen Edler von Echt (born February 20, 1782 in Ehrenbreitstein , † August 1849 in Werschetz ) was an Austrian forest clerk.

Life

He was born as the third child of Franz Martin Maria Bachofen von Echt , an Elector of Trier , and Maria Anna Katharina Margaretha Susanne, nee. von Mainone, born on February 20, 1782 in Ehrenbreitstein (today's address: Humboldtstrasse 129 in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein).

In 1804 Bachofen was appointed forester in Temesvar in the Banat by a forest intern . In 1809 Bachofen was promoted to forest director and soon took on the task of examining the Banat sand desert, reforesting it and binding the drifting sand . He presented his sand binding plans in 1815, revised in 1817 and enriched with practical experience again in 1832. In 1830 he and his brothers were raised to the hereditary nobility . Franz Bachofen Edler von Echt retired in 1841 and retired to Werschetz , where he died in August 1849 as a result of a stroke.

family

While Franz Bachofen von Echt presented his first plan to bind sand on the terrain of the Banat sand desert in Vienna , his older brother Karl Nepomuk Anton Josef Maria fought against Napoleon in Koblenz that same year . His youngest brother, Johann Philipp Franz, b. zu Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein on September 13, 1788, followed him to the Banat and became an Austrian major in the Banat military border in the German-Banat border regimental district No. 12.
