Franz Bauer (born May 2, 1901 in Nuremberg ; † December 8, 1969 there ) was a German dialect author and teacher.

Life and achievement

Franz Bauer was a primary school teacher and later rector at the Bismarck School in Nuremberg. He published educational books and also wrote amateur plays . He became known, however, with works on local history, books for young people dealing with local topics and, above all, his dialect texts . His poem about the "Christmas tree top" is still familiar to the people of Nuremberg today.

In 1970 Bauer was awarded the City of Nuremberg's Citizens' Medal.

Franz Bauer died in 1969 at the age of 68. In accordance with his wishes, he was quietly buried in the St. Johannisfriedhof (grave St. Johannis IIA / 010) in Nuremberg.
