Franz Binder (politician, 1921)

Franz Binder (born August 20, 1921 in Gansbach ; † June 29, 1997 in Baden ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a commercial clerk. From 1959 to 1982 Binder was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and from 1970 was the second president of the state parliament.

Life

Binder completed an apprenticeship as a businessman and served in the Reich Labor Service in 1940 . He then served in World War II from 1941 , but was taken prisoner of war by the United States in 1943, from which he returned in 1946. After his return from the Second World War, Binder worked as a shift supervisor in the oil production company, and in 1947 he became a construction clerk for the construction of Vienna Airport . As a result, Binder moved into the political arena. Between 1952 and 1962 he worked as district party secretary of the SPÖ Schwechat . In 1950 he took over the office of Vice Mayor of Enzersdorf an der Fischa and was then mayor of the municipality between 1960 and 1989. In addition, he was executive chairman from 1963 to 1972 and from 1972 to 1986 chairman of the socialist association of community representatives in Lower Austria. From 1962, Binder held the office of SPÖ district party chairman and between 1971 and 1986 he was Vice President of the Austrian Association of Municipalities.

He represented the SPÖ between June 4, 1959 and January 28, 1982 as a member of the state parliament and was its second president from May 8, 1970.
