Franz Birner

Franz Birner (born August 1, 1920 in Sankt Veit an der Triesting ; † June 8, 2009 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and head of the Baden Chamber of Labor. From 1964 to 1979 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Life

Birner completed an apprenticeship as a metal grinder after the elementary and community school and did military service in the Second World War from 1939, where he was taken prisoner by the French. After his return from the war he worked in a dye works from 1947, where he was elected works council chairman in 1950. In 1955 he entered the service of the Lower Austria Chamber of Labor, in 1959 he was promoted to head of the Baden Chamber of Labor. In the political field, Birner was active as a local councilor in Berndorf from 1955, in 1960 he was promoted to deputy mayor, after which he was again a local councilor in Berndorf between 1965 and 1980. In addition, Birner represented the SPÖ from November 19, 1964 to April 19, 1979 in the Lower Austrian state parliament.
