On August 29, 1796, Franz Conrad Wilhelm Borberg was born in Hamm as the son of the baker and landlord Franz Borberg (approx. 1768–1801) and Maria Catharina Helena Gesselmann. In his parents' house on today's Weststrasse (old Nro 88), he initially practiced the bakery, but - not atypical for the time - he was also a tavern owner and brewer . It has been documented in the Hamm municipal council since 1833. From 1855 he acted as head of the city council. He was married to Theodore Schaaf (1804–1886). The grave of the Borbergs is still in the Ostenfriedhof today . Borbergstrasse in the south of Hammer is named after Franz Borberg.
