Franz Daniel Berg

Franz Daniel Berg (* 1599 in Hullersen ; † November 5, 1658 in Clausthal ) was a German Lutheran theologian and general superintendent of the General Diocese of Grubenhagen and the Harz region .

Life

Franz Daniel Berg was a son of the pastor and later general superintendent in Herzberg Sigismund Berg . After studying theology at the University of Jena , where he obtained his master's degree, he became rector of the Latin school in Osterode am Harz and in 1630 pastor diacon at the St. Aegidien Church in Osterode. Here he experienced on October 22nd, 1632 the pillage by the imperial troops under General Merode. He and other citizens were temporarily interned in St. John's Church for his protest, which was raised together with the city council. In 1639 he became pastor at the St. Jacobi Castle Church , and from June 28, 1643, succeeding his father as general superintendent for the Principality of Grubenhagen and in the Harz region. In autumn 1647 he was called to Clausthal and introduced there as pastor on November 14th. He continued to carry out the general superintendent's business from there.
