Franz Ehmke

Franz Georg Ehmke (born February 8, 1928 in Berlin - February 9, 2018 in Berlin) is a German painter and author .

After training as a garden and landscape designer at the Horticultural School and Research Institute (LuFA) in Berlin-Dahlem, he initially worked in a state design office in East Berlin. He has been working as a freelancer since 1957 and has been a journalist since 1965 as a writer, photographer, draftsman and painter for book and magazine publishers. From the 1960s he devoted himself intensively to pastel painting . Works were created with predominantly Brandenburg motifs, mostly landscapes. An important testimony to topographical documentation of northern Berlin and the surrounding area from the time of reunification and the GDR. Another focus of the last twenty years was the systematic documentation of the Brandenburg village churches.
