Franz Frankl

Franz Xaver Frankl (born July 17, 1881 in Affecking (district of Kelheim ), † April 29, 1940 in Munich ) was a German landscape painter .

Life

Frankl was based in Munich and initially trained as a graphic designer . Then he studied at the Stuttgart Academy , later in Strasbourg at the School of Applied Arts. Further training took place in Paris and Metz . Frankl had his first collective exhibition in 1907 at the Münchner Kunstverein ; later he took part in collective exhibitions a. a. participated in the permanent exhibition of the Munich artists' cooperative. His fellow student in Munich was Karl Gatermann the Elder (1883-1959), with whom he was on friendly terms. Frankl mainly painted landscapes in the Ammersee and Dachau areas. He was particularly successful in the 1920s.
