Franz Heinrich Krey (born February 18, 1930 in Bergisch Gladbach ; † May 10, 2017 there ) was a German journalist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Krey was deployed as a front helper on the Western Front in World War II from September 1, 1944.

After the end of the war, Krey continued his school education and passed his Abitur in 1951. He completed an apprenticeship at the publishing house and at the editorial staff of the Kölnische Rundschau , where he worked from 1958 to 1961 as head of the Cologne-Land editorial team and subsequently became managing director of a Cologne publishing company.

In addition to his job, Krey was active in many honorary positions, including a. also in the carnival at the Great Bergisch Gladbach Carnival Society of 1927 eV He was elected president in 1958, chaired the carnival meetings and was a farmer in the triumvirate in 1955. Later he married the then virgin Inge. Krey was also the first chairman of the Robert-Tillmanns-Haus eV association "

Political party

Krey joined the Junge Union (JU) in 1949 and was chairman of the JU in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis from 1954 to 1960 . From 1956 to 1961 he was a member of the state board of the JU Rhineland and then until 1964 state manager of the association. He joined the CDU in 1952, was chairman of the CDU city association Bergisch Gladbach in the mid-1960s and from 1975 to 1991 chairman of the CDU district association Rheinisch-Bergischer-Kreis. He was active in the CDU until his death.

Krey was from 1965 to 1974 council member of the city of Bergisch Gladbach and from 1975 to 1984 district council member of the Rheinisch-Bergisch district. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1976 to 1994 , where he was deputy chairman of the Interior Committee from 1983 to 1990 . In parliament he represented from 1976 to 1980 the constituency Rheinisch-Bergisch District and then to 1994 the constituency Rheinisch-Bergisch District I .

  • Krey was honorary mayor of Bergisch Gladbach from 1984 to 1989 .
