Franz Herzner

Franz Herzner (born July 4, 1898 in Amberg ; † July 21, 1974 ) was a German communist politician.

Life

Herzner was a clerk for agricultural issues and poultry farmers.

He was a participant in the Kiel sailors' uprising in 1918 and in 1920 one of the commanders of the Red Ruhr Army . He had been a member of the party since the KPD was founded in 1918. Between 1923 and 1927 he worked as a party secretary.

After the beginning of the National Socialist rule he was imprisoned in concentration camps until 1934 .

Since 1945, Herzner was a paid member of the KPD state leadership for North Rhine-Westphalia . He was responsible for agriculture and nutrition. Since 1947 he was an honorary member of the state management.

In 1946, Herzner was a member of the North Rhine Provincial Parliament . He was also a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946 and 1947 . Until 1954 he belonged to the elected state parliament via the state list . The state parliament elected him in 1949 as a member of the first Federal Assembly , which elected Theodor Heuss as Federal President .
