Rating
In a conversation with Chancellor Friedrich von Müller and Friedrich Soret on March 16, 1824, Goethe paid tribute to Franz Kirms as director at the end of his career:
“Kirms earned its merit in a time when it was still important to save and do a lot with a little. I had no penny for my direction, I still spent a lot of money on feeding out the actors and enjoyed the privilege of a sovereign to be genereus to my heart's content. Yes, we are from an old, different time and need not be ashamed of it. "
