Franz Marx (politician, 1922)

Franz Marx (born October 18, 1922 in Kobersdorf , † May 22, 1985 in Oberpullendorf ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. He represented the ÖVP in the Burgenland Landtag from 1960 to 1982 .

Life

Marx was born the son of the farmers Johann and Teresia Marx, whereby his mother died in 1932. After attending elementary school, Marx worked as a farmer and served in the Wehrmacht from 1941 , where he became an American prisoner of war. Marx returned from captivity in 1946 and took over his parents' farm in 1959. In addition, Marx participated in the development of the Protestant youth organization and was active as a local fire brigade commander in Kobersdorf from 1950 to 1958.

politics

Marx was involved as a local councilor in Kobersdorf between 1958 and 1970 and also served as vice mayor between 1962 and 1967. Within the party, he held the function of local party chairman from 1955 to 1969, and from 1957 he also held the function of district chairman of the Baunernbund . He represented the ÖVP between July 27, 1960 and October 29, 1982 in the Burgenland Landtag and between 1958 and 1985 was a chamber councilor or member of the presidium of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture . He was also active in the Burgenland Raiffeisen Association and in the Central Burgenland Wastewater Association and from 1965 to 1985 chairman of the Burgenland regional office of the farmers' social insurance institution .
