Franz Mayer (politician)

Franz Mayer (born November 10, 1913 in Vienna , † May 23, 1977 in Baden ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and tailor. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1964 to 1969 and a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1969 to 1974 .

Life

After elementary school, Mayer attended the community school and then switched to a training school where he completed an apprenticeship as a tailor. He became involved as a member of the Revolutionary Socialists and was therefore arrested in 1936 and sentenced to a political imprisonment of 61 days for illegal activity. Between 1939 and 1945 he did military service in World War II and was then District Party Secretary in 1945. He also acted as ASKÖ district chairman and represented the SPÖ Lower Austria from November 19, 1964 to October 19, 1969 in the Federal Council. Then he was from November 20, 1969 to July 11, 1974 a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament.
