Franz Mayr (politician)

Franz Mayr (born September 29, 1915 in Windischgarsten , † October 22, 1985 in Kirchdorf an der Krems ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and district smoke catcher master. From 1953 to 1971 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

After elementary school, Mayr attended secondary school and then graduated from the commercial college for chimney sweepers . He then worked as a chimney sweep and rose to become district smoke catcher master. Mayr was a member of the state guild of chimney sweeps from 1962 state guild master and from 1963 federal guild master deputy. In addition, from 1964 he was a member of the master craftsman's examination commission and from 1965 he was chairman of the trade section of the Chamber of Commerce and from 1968 a member of the federal trade section.

He was politically active as a local councilor in Windischgarsten, where he was a member of the community committee between 1965 and 1973. He worked within the party as the main district party leader of the ÖVP Kirchdorf and was the local group leader of the Austrian Economic Association of Windischgarsten. Mayr represented the ÖVP between March 18, 1953 and November 4, 1971 in the National Council.
